Vintage Folding Ruler Star

A Big THANK YOU to everyone that stopped by and saw me at the Craft, Food and Wine show this weekend at Cheel Arena.  I had a great time and got lots of great feedback!

Today I have to share this cute ruler star.  I purchased this ruler for $3.00 at North Country Neighbor in Potsdam a while back and came across it while putting my christmas decorations out.   I was trying to figure out a way to display it b/c it is aged wonderfully.  So as I was unfolding it, I thought it would look  neat as a star, and so it does!

It needs a little more decoration so I’m going to try to make something or maybe I will find something today at North Country Neighbors!
For my last show of the year, I will be at the Christmas Vendor Market at the Old Phil’s Florist shop in Massena, this Saturday, Dec 17th from 10 – 2.  Stop by for a unique gift!

Flea Market Finds: Window Panes and Doors

When visiting one of my favorite junk picking spots in Potsdam, where I previously got an old door and old dresser.  I found these wonderful items, all at unbelievable prices.  I am not going to share what I paid for the 6 pane windows, since I’m probably going to resell them after I clean them up a bit.  The 12 pane window will be going in our bedroom and I only paid $5 for that.  I am currently working on cleaning it up, watch for the post!
I also found 2 more old matching doors, that have the knobs still on them.  I paid only $5 a piece for them as well.  I believe they are solid oak. I want to clean them up and make a different head and footboard for our bed.  Please ignore the mattress on the floor if this pic it is waiting for be cut up :).

Flea Market Finds: My $1 Antique Bracelet

I bought this bracelet from a table at the Potsdam Summer Festival for only $1.  I had seen one similar before at an auction for over $30 and I really liked it anyways so I bought.  I did some research and found out it is a Pitman & Keller “American Queen” Sweetheart Bracelet from the Art Deco time period.  It has a small shield on it which I think I am going to go have my initials engraved in it.  Through my research I found another identical bracelet for sale and the price is…..

$48.00 on Etsy!
Vintage Keeler and Pittman American Queen Sterling Base Sweetheart Expansion Bracelet
Vintage Keeler and Pittman American Queen Sterling Base Sweetheart Expansion Bracelet from etsy seller vintagepaige
What a great find!  Totally my best bargain yet!  Keep your eyes open there are good deals all around!
Anyways I just wanted to include a few shots of my flowers this year so far 🙂

Thanks Everyone & my Latest Flea Market Finds

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Massena Heritage Festival and checked out my new stuff.  I had a great show and made some more great contacts!

I have also been slacking at showing you my latest finds at North Country Neighbors in Potsdam.

I have fallen in love with old colored tin.  This 1950s flour swifter is a great addition to my kitchen for only $5!  I also purchased an old working padlock with both keys.  Right now it’s just lying on an end table for decoration but I’m still working on other uses.  It was so cute and rustic I couldn’t pass it up for only $6!

My flea market search will continue when we go to Myrtle Beach in a little over a week :).  I hope to find something like these:
Toy Tea Cups, Set of 5 vintage tin in pink, blue & yellow, Instant Collection.
Toy Tea Cups by OldTymeNotions
If not I can always order them off Etsy!

My $10 Cherry Dresser all Fixed Up

So over my 4 day Thanksgiving weekend in between fighting off a cold and my sewing machine breaking (yes I’m devastated), I managed to finish both the projects of my dresser and the door headboard.  I am still deciding if I like the door headboard, it is on the wall. I don’t like the pictures I took of it so I won’t be sharing it today.  But I will be sharing the finished dresser.  After stripping it and sanding it down I stained it using a cherry finish.  I still have yet to find fixtures that I like for it, so I took some heavy navy seersucker scrap fabric and knotted it to make drawer pulls, which I actually really like, so I may work on creating a more permanent version of those to use.  It also is missing all the keyholes which I may make out of punched tin.

Now in regards to my sewing machine.  A wire is broken in the foot pedal, my wonderful BF spent a long time last night trying to fix it.  He had it working and then it quit :(.  I checked with Sears to see if you can order a new one and you can’t, and they offer no other suggestions.  It just seems a shame to throw out the whole machine b/c of the foot pedal.  So I will be searching the internet to find a replacement and hopefully won’t have to wait too long, I have so many Christmas projects waiting to be sewn!  So if anyone has an older Kenmore machine working or not and would like to get rid of the foot pedal, I would be happy to buy it from you!

♥ Art Deco Jewelry ♥

From the above title you can tell that I love Art Deco jewelry.  I think the pieces are classic and timeless, but also love that there is history that comes with them.  An antique Art Deco ring could have been someone’s cherished wedding ring, how many hands wore this ring in the past?  I think I would rather have a beautiful piece of vintage jewelry versus a new one.  Who needs Kays!

Check out my Etsy Art Deco Love Treasury List for more great pieces.

Now for my own Art Deco jewelry, I purchased this ring setting:
Vintage deco ring 10K setting 1930s 40s
It was a risk and fortunately I didn’t spend a lot b/c it is going to cost $160 to have it rebuilt by a local jewelry to hold a stone and fix the band.  Then I will have to find an old stone or purchase a new one for it.  Probably another expense for after Christmas, but I am excited to finally be able to wear it!
